King Béhanzin of Dahomey during his exile on Martinique
Résumé
Picture postcard depicting king Béhanzin smoking a pipe, with two of his wives holding a spittoon (left) and an umbrella (right). The postcard was published by the photographer Conge from Fort-de-France. The picture was most probably taken at the Villa des Bosquets, where the king resided from 1898 to 1906, after having left his previous residence at Fort Tartenson (1894-1898).
